Mari Trefry C.Ht. Who We Are: After moving to Los Angeles in 2004, Mari moved forward in her career by managing and designing in flower shops around Beverly Hills. Here she expanded her knowledge of high-end and couture floral design, and custom consultations. Working in this area of Rodeo Dr., she noticed a repeating theme. Her clients had expectations about a flower shop, and the natural art within. Many expected the visit to be part of a therapeutic experience. Clients were looking for more than just flowers. They wanted to feel something from the beauty. She also noted that while some clients were interested in a specific style that was “in” at the time, many had their own ideas of which flowers made them happy. Mari believes that no matter what flower is beautiful to a client, it is truly “in style” for that moment. Floral arrangements, like trends, are both impermanent. What you take with you is the feeling. In 2006, Mari became production manager and floral consultant for the Bride and Bloom Magazine and enjoyed creating designs for many more events, and photo-shoots. Here, she was able to see the newest floral ideas as they were submitted for publication, and became interested in “Green” floral design. Living Art installations and Eco-Friendly floral design is Mari’s unique way of creating positive feelings with plants and flowers. She passionately creates Horticulturally Therapeutic Environments. She has worked for over 13 years with brides and clients expecting luxury, and has decided to continue with a Therapeutic new direction. As a Certified Hypnotherapist, Mari listens intently to her clients to help them discover their own creativity within. As a floral artist, she uses the same attention and care to understand the clients personal connection to her art. The designs and environments she creates have the intention to calm, bring balance and general well-being. Mari has developed special programs that incorporate her experience as a wedding production designer, Hypnotherapist and eco-friendly floral designer. This background gives a unique perspective on situations involved in event production as well as an increased awareness of the overall space as a “scene” impacting it’s occupants.
